Glittering On The Gold Coast

We arrived home very jet lagged from our long trip through Europe but we soon found a new set of wings when we discovered the Glitter Festival on the Gold Coast was already up, up and away. Unfortunately, our arrival was a little late to catch a few stunning events like Tacos and Tiaras at QT, The Lunch that Drags on Tedder Avenue, Larry Paradiseo and the Fabulous Dame Farrar, Michael Griffiths on piano and Australia's 'Acid Tongue Prince', Mr Joel Creasy. However, there were still plenty of fabulous festive functions left on the program to titilate our tastebuds and aid re-entry into the Gold Coast glitterati. A quick breeze through the program, a change of outfit and off we went!

Porto Giunco, Villasimius, Sardinia

Sardinia is renowned for its beautiful beaches and some of the most sensational are found in the east of the island around the small town of Villasimius. Our top discovery was Porto Giunco Beach about four kilometres from Villasimius. We have travelled the world in search of great beaches and certainly Porto Giunco would be right up there with the best. In fact, Porto Giunco could easily take its place in the top ten beaches of the world. The water is so amazingly blue and clean that it is like looking through glass, the sand is powdery, white and soft. This is all set against a backdrop of sand dunes, rugged boulders and wild hills. It's truly a masterpiece.

Three Islands Of Venice

The magic of the canals was still very much on display for all to see and the Vaporettos (public water taxis) continued to heave thousands of tourists a day up and down the Grand Canal to St Marco Square, just as we remembered.

Known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic' the bay was truly spectacular, with every type of water craft from sculls to luxury cruisers, adding to the excitement and splendour of our first glimpse of this amazing city.
