Clinging to the mighty Mekong River in northern Laos is the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang. We discovered so much about Lao tradition and culture, from spicy food, friendly smiling people to elaborate carved temples. This picturesque and endearing mountain town charmed and captivated our hearts. It is truly one of the rare gems of Asia.
TORONTO & NIAGARA FALLS
We visited Niagara Falls on one of its hottest August days in years, marvelling at the perfectly clear blue skies. Our coach ride with City Sight Seeing took a couple of hours from the centre of Toronto to the Falls. On the way we dropped into Niagara College Wine and Visitors Centre to do a little wine tasting. The wine was interesting, but even more interesting was a couple of cuties we spied on our tour who helped make our day a delectable feast for the eyes.
Tips & Tales Rome
Whether it is pasta, pizza or pizzaz Rome has it in absolute abundance. The 'eternal city' also has magnificent buildings like the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the famous, romantic Trevi Fountain, Vatican City, boundless basilicas and our favourite monument dedicated to Victor Emmanuel at Piazza Venezia. Rome in summer is hot and there is a vast number of tourists. Planning to visit the city out of peak tourist times is a very good idea.
Tips & Tales Corfu
Don't go searching for gay bars or gay clubs in Corfu Town, there are none. If you are looking for a gay Greek holiday, try Mykonos. But if you want a totally relaxing time on a beautiful island, Corfu is a great choice. There is one gay bar called Silk in the north of the island. However, the road up to it is a real challenge.
Tips & Tales : Gay Friendly Malta
We arrived in Malta in early August when the weather was very hot. There are a host of good beaches, stunning rugged coastlines an island packed with summer tourists, cultural heritage, restaurants and bars. (See: http://www.malta.com/en) Most bars and beaches in Malta are gay friendly, but not gay. Malta has recently been ranked third in the 2015 Rainbow Index, making it one of most gay friendly countries in the world (http://www.ilga-europe.org/resources/rainbow-europe/2015).
Tips and Tales Munich’s Gay Scene
We loved our short visit to this very beautiful, friendly German city and we will be returning to explore it more fully in the very near future. Munich gay scene is not Berlin but it has a good number of small bars, clubs and venues that many cities would be proud to have.
